Creating an Encounter

Encounters are created automatically when a patient checks in for their appointment. Each appointment corresponds to its own encounter. After a patient checks in, the Encounter button will appear, enabling you to navigate to the encounter for that specific patient appointment.


If for any reason you need to manually create an encounter for a patient who is not on the schedule, you can do so by navigating to the Encounters tab of the patient record. Open the side panel by clicking the arrow on the right-hand side to display all encounters. Click Create encounter. 

 

Select the encounter date and time. 

 

After manually creating an encounter, you can then proceed with taking your SOAP note, but please note that since this encounter was created manually, no subjective survey data will import to the Subjective Wizard. You will need to notate subjective findings in the Notes text box.
