Before using Voice to Chart to assist with note-taking for a patient's visit, you'll need to obtain consent from the patient first.
Here is how to document that you have obtained recording consent from the patient:
The first time you click record for a patient's encounter, the system will prompt you to confirm that you have obtained consent:

After you click Consent Obtained, this consent is documented in the patient's record under the General tab, and you won't need to confirm consent again.
⚠️ We recommend confirming a patient’s preference before each recording, even if consent was previously obtained. This supports compliance but does not replace the need for proper verbal and/or written consent when required by law.
To edit a patient's consent to recording at anytime, navigate to the General tab of their patient record and click Edit.

Scroll to the bottom to toggle on or off Recording Consent.

When opting in or out of Recording Consent, you can leave an optional comment. This comment will be accessible in the patient's chart.
