Switching your Two-way Texting to ChiroUp

Thinking about switching from your current Two-way Texting system to ChiroUp's Two-way texting? This article outlines everything you need to know about making the switch! 


🌟 Currently, I use my own phone number for texting. Can I use it in ChiroUp Two-way Texting too?

  • Yes! During the sign-up process, you can choose to host your own number for texting in ChiroUp. 

 

🌟 Will there be any downtime during the transition?

  • Possibly, but we've designed the transition process to keep any downtime to a minimum.
  • Once you submit your Hosted SMS order, Telnyx (our texting carrier) will begin transferring your SMS services from your current provider. If “downtime” occurs, it will happen after your previous texting platform stops receiving messages but before your number is activated in ChiroUp.
  • Don't worry, though. Any text messages received during this transition “downtime” period will be stored and made available as soon as your number is activated in ChiroUp, so no messages will be lost.
  • When your number is ready, you'll automatically receive an email from ChiroUp with instructions to complete Step 4 of the Two-Way Texting Setup process. Completing this final step activates your number in ChiroUp and gives you access to any messages received during the transfer.

 

🌟 How long does the transition take?

The transition happens in two phases:

  • Phase 1: Brand/Campaign Approval (7-10 business days)
    • The first step is submitting your Brand/Campaign application. This registers your clinic as an approved sender of text messages and typically takes 7-10 business days for approval.
    • During this time, nothing changes. You'll continue using your current texting platform as usual while your application is processed.
    • Once your Brand/Campaign is approved, ChiroUp will notify you by email.
  • Phase 2: Hosted SMS Transfer (about 24 hours)
    • After your Brand/Campaign is approved, you'll submit your Hosted SMS order to transfer your existing texting number to ChiroUp.
    • Hosted SMS approval typically takes about 24 hours from submission to approval. During this time, your previous texting platform will eventually stop receiving messages as the transfer completes. Any messages received after that point will be securely stored by ChiroUp.
    • As soon as your Hosted SMS order is approved, you'll receive another automated email from ChiroUp prompting you to complete Step 4 of the Two-Way Texting Setup process. Once completed, your number will be active in ChiroUp, and you'll be able to view and respond to any messages received during the transfer.

 

🌟 Will my voice phone service change?

  • No. The Hosted SMS order only transfers your SMS (text messaging) services to Telnyx, ChiroUp's texting carrier. Your voice calling service remains with your current phone provider, so there will be no changes to how you make or receive phone calls.
    • Note: Standard landline and VoIP carriers typically support hosting SMS separately from voice service, allowing you to keep calling through your current provider while texting through ChiroUp (Telnyx). Restrictions are most common with wireless/mobile carriers. If you’re unsure whether your carrier supports hosted SMS, we recommend confirming with them directly before proceeding with Hosted SMS with ChiroUp (Telnyx). If you're already splitting hosting of SMS and voice with your current texting platform, its typically safe to assume your phone carriers allows for split hosting. 

 

🌟 Do I need to cancel my current texting services?

  • No. Don't cancel your existing texting service until your number has been successfully transferred to ChiroUp. The SMS hosting transfer is coordinated between carriers.

 

🌟 Will I lose any messages?

  • No. Messages received during the transfer are stored and become available once you activate your number in ChiroUp.

 

🌟 Will my previous conversations transfer to ChiroUp?

  • No. Existing message history remains with your previous texting provider. Only new messages received after the transfer (including those received during the transition) will appear in ChiroUp.

 

🌟 What features are different from my current texting platform?

  • ChiroUp focuses on one-to-one patient communication. We currently support individual messaging, appointment reminders, survey requests, and individual Patient Recall outreach, but do not support mass messaging, marketing campaigns, or automated recall messaging.
