ChiroUp’s Two-way Texting lets you communicate directly with individual patients in ChiroUp, making it easy to send and receive messages and set up multiple text appointment reminders. Below, we’ll walk through how to subscribe to and set up Two-way Texting so you can get started with ease.
- Subscribe to Two-way Texting: Add the Two-way Texting Add-on to your ChiroUp account for $99/month.
- Submit your Brand/Campaign Application: Complete an application that registers your business as the entity sending text messages. Approval can take up to 8-10 business days.
- Select an SMS Number: Select the number that will be connected to your Two-way Texting. This is the number patients will receive texts from your clinic, including appointment reminders, survey requests, and any two-way text messages you send.
- Assign your Text Number to your Clinic: After your Brand/Campaign application is approved, you can assign your provisioned texting number to your clinic location. This updates all outgoing texts, such as appointment reminders and survey requests, to send from that number and enables two-way texting with patients.
Step 1: Subscribe to Two-way Texting
1. Navigate to your profile icon and then to Subscription.

2. Scroll to view Optional Add-Ons. Click Subscribe Now for the Two-way Texting Add-On.

3. Confirm that you would like to subscriber to Two-way Texting by clicking Add Two-way Texting.

Once you've subscribed to Two-way Texting, you can proceed to the next step to submit your Brand/Campaign application!
Step 2: Submit your Brand/Campaign Application
1. Navigate to Clinic Settings and then to the Messaging tab.
2. Click +Create Brand/Campaign

3. Start by entering your Business info. Click Next when you're ready to continue.
Make sure you enter your Legal Business Name exactly how you have your EIN/Tax ID set up.

4. Enter your Contact info. Click Next to continue.
If you enter a Business Contact Email, it must use a business domain (for example, example@yourclinicname.com). Non-business email addresses, such as example@gmail.com, will result in denial. If you do not have a business contact email, leave this field blank.

5. Enter your physical address of your business (clinic). Click Next to continue.

6. Enter a link to your clinic website.
If you have a publicly-available Terms of Service or Privacy Policy available, you can link those as well, however, it is not required.

7. Click Complete Setup!
8. The first portion of your application (Brand) is Submitted! Typically, the Brand portion of your application is approved within a few minutes.

9. To submit the second portion of your application (Campaign), click Submit Campaign Registration.
Please note that you won't be able to submit your Campaign portion of the application until the Brand is approved. This typically takes less than a few minutes. Refresh your screen if you don't see that the Brand is approved right away.

After submitting the campaign portion of your application, ChiroUp's Two-way Texting carrier, Telnyx, will take 7-10 business days to process and approve.

Step 3: Select an SMS Number

1. Click + Add Number

2. Select an SMS number for Two-way texting.
You have two options for your SMS number: (a) select a brand-new number to use for ChiroUp Texting or (b) host your existing clinic telephone number for SMS.

Option (a): Here's how to pick a brand-new number ChiroUp SMS:
- Click Get a New Number
- Select from a list of available numbers with your chosen area code.
- If you choose to provision a brand-new number, you can then proceed directly to the next step (4 - Assign your Text Number to your Clinic) after you've clicked Provision Phone Number.
- ➡️ After successfully provisioning your number, proceed to Step 4 to start texting patients!

Option (b): Here's how to host your existing telephone number for ChiroUp SMS:
- Click Host Existing Number
- Enter your current number that you wish to host
- Click Check Eligibility
- If eligible, click Start Hosting

Standard landline and VoIP carriers typically support hosting SMS separately from voice service, allowing you to keep calling through your current provider while texting through ChiroUp (Telnyx). Restrictions are most common with wireless/mobile carriers. If you’re unsure whether your carrier supports hosted SMS, we recommend confirming with them directly before proceeding with Hosted SMS with ChiroUp (Telnyx).

- Next, you'll verify that you're the owner of that phone number.
- If you're currently using this phone number for texting with another provider, you can verify ownership by requesting a verification code.
- If the number isn't currently enabled for texting, select Skip to Document Upload to verify ownership by uploading documentation instead.

- To verify ownership using a Document Upload, you'll upload two documents: Letter of Agency (LOA) and your latest phone bill/invoice.
- Download and complete the LOA template, and then re-upload to this screen.
- The Letter of Agency authorizes Telnyx (our SMS carrier) to initiate hosting for your number. Most landline and VoIP carriers support hosting SMS separately from voice service, allowing you to keep calling through your current provider while texting through ChiroUp (Telnyx). Restrictions are most common with wireless/mobile carriers. If you’re unsure whether your carrier supports hosted SMS, we recommend confirming with them directly before proceeding with Hosted SMS with ChiroUp (Telnyx).
- Upload a copy of your latest Phone Bill.
- Click Upload & Submit.
- Download and complete the LOA template, and then re-upload to this screen.

- After submitting your Hosted SMS order, you'll see something like this in your Messaging tab:

You'll automatically receive an email from ChiroUp once your Hosted SMS order has been approved. Approval typically takes about 24 hours.
After you receive the approval email, proceed to Step 4 to assign your texting number to your clinic and begin texting patients.
Step 4: Assign your Text Number to your Clinic
Once your Brand/Campaign application is approved and your SMS number is set, you can assign your number to your clinic location. This can be considered “going live” with your new texting number!
Assigning your number unlocks these benefits:
- You can start texting patients right away!
- All clinic text messages, such as appointment reminders and survey requests, will be sent from your new phone number
- For clinics transitioning from one texting platform to another while keeping the same hosted SMS number, any texts received during the transition will be accessible.
To assign your text number, navigate to Clinic Settings > Messaging.
Scroll to the Phone Numbers section and click Manage.

Make sure your Brand/Campaign is selected in the drop-down field and check the box for your Clinic Location name under Location Assignments. Doing so will officially switch your ChiroUp texting number to your provisioned number and allow you to start texting with patients.

💡 What to Know Before You Sign Up
With the Two-Way Texting add-on, you can send and receive text messages directly inside ChiroUp. You can also set up additional text message appointment reminders (beyond the 1 text reminder already included in your ChiroUp subscription).
A few important things to know:
- Mass or campaign-style texting is not supported.
- The add-on is $99/month and includes up to 5,000 two-way messages and additional text appointment reminders.
- Messages sent and received both count toward your total.
- The first default text appointment reminder and survey request texts do not count against your 5,000 messages per month.
