✍️ Who can edit & sign SOAP Notes?
By default, rendering providers, supervising providers, and Admin users can edit SOAP Notes. Only the rendering provider, or the supervising provider when one is assigned, can sign a note.
Need more flexibility? You can grant Editing & Signing permissions to other users in your clinic through SOAP Preferences, allowing you to tailor access to your clinic's workflow.
✍️ Here's how to grant Editing & Signing rights:
1. Navigate to User Settings > SOAP Preferences.
2. Under Editing & Signing rights, select the users in your account you want to have access to edit and sign your notes on your behalf.
3. Don't forget to click Save!
✍️ What does it look like in my note when someone signs on my behalf?
At the top of your note, you'll see the rendering provider listed and who clicked the sign button.
- In this example, this is Dr. Kate Tegtmeier's note, but Dr. Sally Spine signed on her behalf.
The SOAP History will show which user signed the note an when.
The actual signature that appears on the SOAP Note will be that of the rendering (or supervising provider, if there is one).
How does Editing/Signing Rights work with Encounter Supervision?
When an Encounter Supervising Provider is assigned, Editing & Signing Rights work differently for editing and signing:
- Edit the Note: The rendering provider, supervising provider, and any provider granted Editing & Signing Rights by either the rendering or supervising provider can edit the note.
- Sign the Note: Only the supervising provider and providers granted Editing & Signing Rights by the supervising provider can sign the note.
