Customizing the Plan Wizard

The options Plan Wizard are all customizable! This article outlines how to edit the selections available, the SOAP output for each selection, and the associated service code. 


Here's how to customize your Plan Wizard: 

Plan Wizard Customizations are user-specific - so each provider can make their own customizations. This means that the customizations one provider makes will not reflect in a different provider's Plan. Each provider must make their own customizations. 

Edits made to your custom Plan Wizard settings will apply to Plan views in encounters moving forward and will not impact already-existing encounters. 

Navigate to the profile icon in the top right corner of your account and select User Settings. Navigate to the SOAP Preferences tab. 

 

Scroll down to the Plan Wizard Category Preferences section.


Here's a breakdown of everything you can customize in the Plan Wizard: 

 

Category Settings:

  • Toggle ON Collapsed to default this section to be ‘collapsed’ when viewing a Plan. We recommend collapsing sections you don't often use when note-taking. 
  • Toggle ON Visible to display this section in the Plan. We recommend only toggling this setting off if you never use that particular section of the Plan. 
  • Check the Auto-SALT field if you want your selections from a previous visit to always populate in the current visit. Please note this setting will only Auto-SALT your Plan section, and does not import or point the code. 
  • Use the ‘hamburger’ (three horizontal lines) to re-order the categories Drag and drop the category to customize the order of your Plan Wizard. 

 

Editing Default Selection Settings:

  • Edit the associated CPT code by clicking the pencil icon, or remove it by clicking the red ‘x’. The associated CPT code will be added to the Purchase when you select it in the Plan Wizard and click Import & Point.
    • The designated Primary CPT Code will import to the purchase when you have indicated 1 billable unit 
    • A Secondary CPT Code is optional to designate and will import to the purchase as the additional units when multiple billable units are indicated. 
      • Example: If two billable units are indicated: 1 unit of the primary code and 1 unit of the secondary code will import to the purchase
  • Edit the text that appears in the SOAP Output by edit the Output Text field. Use “(insert units)” as an indicator to include the number of billable units selected.
  • Hide a selection from Plan view by checking the Hide in Plan field. Use this setting to hide any default selections from the Plan Wizard view that you do not use. 

 

 

Create a new selection for the Plan Wizard:

To create a new selection for any group of the Plan Wizard, click Add Selection

 

Enter the details for your custom selection: 

  • Selection Name
  • Associated Billing Code (this is the code that will import when you click Import & Point)
  • Max Units (this is the maximum number of units you can indicate for the associated code)
  • Include CPT code in output (check the box to include the associated billing code in the output text)
  • Output text (this is the text that will populate in your SOAP Output when this item is selected

💡Pro tip:

Customizing the Plan Wizard is a user-specific setting, so each provider in the clinic will need to make their own Plan Wizard customizations to reflect their own preferences!

Plan Wizard customizations only apply to encounters created after making any changes - the Plan view on existing encounters will not be impacted.
