You will want to input your clinic's discipline and treatment offerings in your Clinic Settings. The treatments you input will be the options available for selection when scheduling a new appointment.
- Disciplines are a branch or domain of knowledge, instruction, or learning. Examples include chiropractic, massage therapy, and physical therapy.
- Treatments are services that a specific discipline offers at a clinic, for example, a New Patient Exam or New Injury. Treatments fuel what can be booked on the scheduler.
Here’s how to set disciplines and treatments within your clinic:
All treatments (aka appointment types) must be added under a discipline.
1) Navigate to the profile icon in the top right corner and select Clinic settings.
2) Navigate to the Disciplines tab.
3) Click Add Discipline in the top right corner.
4) Enter the discipline name, professional title (ex: massage therapist, chiropractor, etc), and description (optional).
5) Remember to hit Save.
6) To start adding your treatments under the discipline, click +Add Treatment next to the corresponding discipline.
7) Enter treatment details. (For details on each treatment field, scroll down on this article).
8) Remember to hit Save.
9) Repeat to add all necessary disciplines and treatment types for your clinic.
💡Pro tip:
We recommend checking the Send Abbreviated CCS box for all treatment types other than New Patient or New Injury. This means that when you make the switch over to ChiroUp EHR, your patients who are in the middle of their care won't be prompted with a full Chief Complaint Survey. Instead, they’ll receive a shorter version that focuses on capturing essential complaint info without asking them to re-report everything.

Treatment duration
The treatment duration is a required field and will be the default duration that populates for that appointment type on the schedule. You can change individual appointment durations as needed from the schedule.
Price
The treatment Price is the price that appears on your patient-facing online scheduling site. It should be the cash price your clinic charges for that treatment. You can disable the price from showing on your online scheduling site by checking or un-checking the Display price on online booking at the bottom of the screen.
The price of a treatment will also be the price that populates an appointment's transaction if no codes are being billed. However, if are billing codes, this price does not populate.
For clinics that bill insurance, Price is not a required field.
Locations
Treatment locations defines the specific clinic locations where the treatment is available (for multi-location clinics).
Restrict to providers
You can restrict certain treatment types to certain providers. Use the Restrict to Providers drop-down to select the specific provider(s) who provides this treatment. Or, if all providers provide this treatment, leave the drop-down blank.
Color
The treatment color determines the appointment block color on the schedule.
Sales tax & Price includes tax
The Sales Tax checkbox signals that sales tax will be applied.
Checking it reveals a Price includes tax option. If selected, it signifies that tax is included in the price. If left unchecked, sales tax will be applied in addition to the price.
Allow online booking
You can allow or restrict treatments from appearing on your online scheduling site with the Allow online booking checkbox.
Display price/duration on online booking
You can elect to display price and/or duration on your online scheduling site. Check or uncheck each box to show or hide price and duration.
Active
Mark a treatment as active to allow a treatment to be booked. You can inactivate treatments that are no longer provided at your clinic, thus preventing the treatment from being booked.
Suppress reminders
You can opt to suppress appointment reminders for a specific treatment type by checking this box. This would be relevant for when treatment types that are typically scheduled in tandem with other appointments, and you want to prevent two reminders from going out.
Suppress automated surveys
You can opt to suppress automated surveys for certain treatment types. Checking this box would mean the patient would not receive a Chief Complaint, interim, or re-exam survey for appointments booked under this treatment type. Please note that this means that no Subjective info would auto-populate into the Subjective portion of your note.
This setting is particularly useful for when the surveys are not relevant to the services provided for a specific treatment type.
Send abbreviated CCS
When you check the "Send Abbreviated CCS" box, ChiroUp will automatically send the abbreviated Chief Complaint Survey for newly imported patients who haven't been seen by your clinic yet in ChiroUp. This is especially helpful during your initial transition, as it prevents patients already in the middle of care from having to complete a full Chief Complaint Survey. Instead, they’ll receive a shorter version that focuses on capturing essential complaint info without asking them to re-report everything.
We recommend checking this box for all treatment types other than examples such as New Patient or New Injury.
Associated billing codes
Adding billing codes to a treatment will auto-populate the codes on the purchase anytime you book this treatment. Only add codes that you consistently bill for this treatment.
