Input the different treatment types (aka appointment types) that your clinic offers. Each treatment type will be categorized under a Discipline.
The treatments you input will be the appointment type options available for selection when scheduling an appointment.
-
Disciplines are a branch or domain of care.
- Chiropractic
- Massage therapy
- Physical therapy.
-
Treatments are the appointment types that a specific discipline offers at a clinic. Treatments fuel what can be booked on the scheduler.
- New Patient Exam
- New Injury
- Adjustment Only
- 60 Minute Massage
💫 Access Discipline & Treatment Settings:
Navigate to Clinic Settings > Scheduling > Disciplines

💫 Managing Disciplines:
By default, your ChiroUp account will include a discipline for Chiropractic & Massage Therapy.
You can add additional Disciplines or hide any you don't use.
- Add additional disciplines by clicking the +Add discipline button.
- Hide disciplines you don't need by marking them active by clicking the Edit button. Then, toggle OFF Active.

💡Pro Tip:
Pro Tip: Some payors have different benefits for different disciplines, such as separate Chiropractic and Massage Therapy benefits. Your clinic’s Disciplines determine which insurance benefits are applied to a purchase.
Be sure your disciplines and treatment types are set up accurately. ChiroUp applies the patient’s benefit based on the discipline of the appointment and the discipline of the benefit. For example, a $30 Chiropractic copay will apply to a Chiropractic appointment but not a Massage Therapy appointment.

💫 Managing Treatments
Start adding your treatments (aka appointment types) by clicking +Add Treatment next to the corresponding Discipline.

Enter treatment details. (For details on each field, scroll down on this article). Remember, the treatment types you enter here are the appointment types available for scheduling.
Remember to click Save! Repeat for each appointment type your clinic offers.

💡Pro tip:
We recommend checking the Send Abbreviated CCS box for all treatment types other than New Patient or New Injury. This means that when you make the switch over to ChiroUp EHR, your patients who are in the middle of their care won't be prompted with a full Chief Complaint Survey. Instead, they’ll receive a shorter version that focuses on capturing essential complaint info without asking them to re-report everything.

📋General Treatment Fields:
Name
This is the name of the treatment (aka appointment type). This is the name you will see in the treatment drop-down when booking an appointment, both in ChiroUp and for online scheduling.

Treatment duration
The treatment duration is a required field and will be the default duration that populates for that appointment type on the schedule. You can change individual appointment durations as needed from the schedule.

Price
The Price field is useful if you charge a flat rate for this specific treatment (appt) type. This price will automatically populate as the balance for the appointment's associated purchase.
If you charge service codes, Price is not a required field. (Adding a service code to the purchase overrides set Treatment price)

Locations
Treatment locations defines the specific clinic locations where the treatment is available.
This field controls whether the treatment type is available for online booking at the selected location(s). Be sure to fill it in, even if your clinic only has a single location!

Default Treatment Rooms
Optionally select a room to default for this treatment— when you schedule an appointment for this treatment, ChiroUp will automatically populate the room for you.
Note: You must first select your location before you can designate a default treatment room.

Restrict to providers
You can restrict certain treatment types to certain providers. Use the Restrict to Providers drop-down to select the specific provider(s) who provides this treatment. Or, if all providers provide this treatment, leave the drop-down blank.

Color
The treatment color determines the appointment block color on the schedule.

Active
Mark a treatment as active to allow a treatment to be booked. You can inactivate treatments that are no longer provided at your clinic, thus preventing the treatment from being booked.

Suppress reminders
You can opt to suppress appointment reminders for a specific treatment type by checking this box.

Suppress automated surveys
You can opt to suppress automated surveys for certain treatment types. Checking this box would mean the patient would not receive a Chief Complaint, interim, or re-exam survey for appointments booked under this treatment type. Please note that this means that no Subjective info would auto-populate into the Subjective portion of your note.
This setting is particularly useful for when the surveys are not relevant to the services provided for a specific treatment type.

Send abbreviated CCS
When you check the "Send Abbreviated CCS" box, ChiroUp will automatically send the abbreviated Chief Complaint Survey for newly migrated patients who haven't been seen by your clinic yet in ChiroUp. This is especially helpful during your initial transition, as it prevents patients already in the middle of care from having to complete a full Chief Complaint Survey. Instead, they’ll receive a shorter version that focuses on capturing essential complaint info without asking them to re-report everything.
Please note that the abbreviated CCS is designed to send to newly migrated patients - if you opt out of patient migration, then all patients will receive the standard CCS upon their first visit in ChiroUp.
We recommend checking this box for all treatment types other than examples such as New Patient or New Injury.

📋 Billing Treatment Fields:
Sales Tax
The Sales Tax checkbox signals that sales tax will be applied to the treatment price.

Associated billing codes
Adding billing codes to a treatment will auto-populate the codes on the purchase every time you book this treatment. Only add codes that you consistently bill for this treatment.
You can always charge specific codes for each patient purchase.

📋 Online Booking Treatment Fields:

Optionally enter a description of the treatment type to appear in online booking.

Allow online booking
Check this box to allow this treatment type to be booked online.

Same-day Scheduling
Check this box to allow patients to schedule same-day (up to 15 minutes before appt start time) for this treatment type.
