Online Pay

Patients can pay their balance online via HealthCom - either from the web at healthcom.io or from the HealthCom app on their phones.

Here's how to enable online billing for your clinic:

1. Navigate to Clinic Settings and then to the HealthCom tab. 

2. Toggle ON Allow patients to pay online through HealthCom. 


Can I restrict which balances populate for patients to pay towards?

Yes! The Payability setting gives you control over when patients can pay balances through HealthCom.

  • Payability ON: Patients can pay their balances immediately, even if the related insurance claim is still pending.
  • Payability OFF: Patients can only pay balances associated with claims that have been marked Paid after an ERA is received.

This setting is helpful if you prefer to wait until insurance processing is complete before collecting patient responsibility. Once an ERA is received, ChiroUp updates the claim status to Paid, making the related balance available for payment when Payability is turned OFF.


How do patients pay online?

In HealthCom, patients will navigate to the Balance tab. 

Patients can view their outstanding balance and make payments directly through HealthCom. They may choose to pay the full balance or enter a partial payment amount. If patients make a partial payment, then payment will be applied to their oldest balance first. 

If a payment method is already saved on file, patients can use it for a faster checkout experience. They can also add and save a new payment method while making a payment. Any payment method saved through HealthCom is automatically available in the patient's ChiroUp account as well.


What does it look like in ChiroUp when a patient pays online?

Patient payments made through HealthCom are automatically recorded in the patient's Payments tab alongside all other payments. These payments are identified with the description HealthCom payment, and the payment details note that the payment was created by the patient.


Can patients view additional billing details in HealthCom?

At this time, patients can only view their balance. Additional details like Invoices or Statements are not available for view in HealthCom. 

Patients are advised to contact your clinic with any billing-related questions. 


How can I direct patients to pay online?

When Online Pay is enabled, ChiroUp automatically includes payment instructions on patient statements and invoices, making it easy for patients to access HealthCom and pay their balance online.

Patients can scan the QR code or click the link in their email to navigate directly to HealthCom to pay!
