Provider billing information

If a provider bills insurance or will be generating superbills, it is necessary that they set up their provider billing info. It's important to have your billing information on file for the purpose of processing claims. 

Each provider in the clinic should add their billing information. 


Here's how to input provider billing information: 

1) Navigate to the profile icon in the top right corner and select Clinic settings and then the Users tab. 

 

2) Locate the provider whose billing information you're inputting and click Billing. 

 

3) Enter billing profile details (specific to that provider). 


Here's a breakdown of the profile details: 

Default billing information

  • Default billing profile is the billing profile that will default on all transactions associated with the provider. You can switch between billing profiles on the transaction level, but if a clinic has multiple profiles this selection will be the defaulted one. 
  • NPI number is a 10 digit number that is the Type 1 NPI for the provider. 
  • Taxonomy code identifies the provider's specialty.
  • UPIN is a 6 digit number that was assigned my medicare. However, in 2007 the NPI number replaced UPIN; not all providers will have a UPIN number. 
  • Tax ID type will either been SSN (social security number) or EIN (employee identification number). 
  • Tax ID is your 9 digit SSN or EIN. 

A provider's default billing information populates on all claims associated with the provider. 

 
 

Provider licenses

Enter your license type, number, state, and expiration date. 

Use the +Add button to add additional licenses if necessary! 

License information will populate on patient invoices associated with the provider. 

 
 

Provider commercial number

A provider commercial is a unique identifier assigned to a healthcare provider by commercial insurance companies. It is used for billing and administrative purposes— enabling the insurance companies to accurately process claims and track services. 

However, most insurance companies just require the NPI number.  Currently in ChiroUp EHR, this field is an optional field used for storing this information (your NPI number will populate on claims as required from insurance companies).
